Call for Papers: Klebsiella pneumoniae Antimicrobial Resistance, hypervirulent K. pneumoniae, Therapeutic Strategies and Infection Control

Introduction

Preparation of a manuscript can be quite challenging because many scientists find it quite difficult to convey their scientific findings as per the journal standards. This usually hinders the publication process, especially in developing areas like antimicrobial resistance.

Klebsiella pneumoniae has become a major opportunistic microorganism due to the increasing antibiotic resistance of the bacteria, the development of its virulence and spreading rate. Therefore, there is a need for new approaches to diagnostics, treatment and prevention of the infections caused by the bacterium.

This call for papers on Klebsiella pneumoniae seeks submission of original research and review papers that discuss aspects like antimicrobial resistance, virulence, diagnostics in the laboratory, treatment methods, and infection control, among others.

Why publish in this issue?

This Special Issue provides a perfect platform for scientists working in the fields of microbiology, infectious diseases, antimicrobial pharmacology, molecular epidemiology, and medicine to exhibit their latest findings. In the current situation, when there is growing anxiety about the problem of antimicrobial resistance throughout the world, this set tries to attract attention to scientific research.

As a Call for Papers on Antimicrobial Resistance, the current issue promotes research related to mechanisms of resistance, virulence, diagnostics, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics, therapy, and infection prevention in hospitals.

Key advantages:

  • Publish alongside a team of internationally respected antimicrobial resistance researchers.
  • Increase the dissemination of your results among physicians, microbiologists, and researchers working in the field of health care.
  • Facilitate the creation of an evidence base that will contribute to improving diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in dealing with infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria.
  • Expand citation opportunities through publication in a dedicated Special Issue.
  • Help translate into practice by increasing knowledge and awareness about antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention.
  • Participate in a global, multi-disciplinary group of researchers working at the interface of microbiology, infectious disease, pharmacy and translational science.
  • Scope

Special Issue on Klebsiella pneumoniae invites submissions of quality Original Research Papers and Review Papers dealing with laboratory, translational, and clinical research. it includes the following areas:

  • Molecular epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance mechanisms.
  • Population genomics and resistance gene transmission.
  • Host–pathogen interactions and virulence factor regulation.
  • Virulome analysis and animal models of infection.
  • Surveillance of hypervirulent and carbapenem-resistant strains.
  • PK and PD studies of antimicrobials.
  • Rapid methods for laboratory diagnosis of infections.
  • Development of vaccines, phages and antimicrobial drugs.
  • Prevention and hospital infection control measures.

    Know More About This Issue

    K. Pneumoniae has been reported as a major opportunistic gram-negative bacterial species isolated from patients who get infected with healthcare- and community-associated infections. Moreover, the rising tide of hypervirulent and carbapenem-resistant strains has increased the incidence of disease severity, mortality, and healthcare expenditure globally.

Some recent studies have pointed out the fast dissemination of certain hypervirulent strains of K. pneumoniae that cause serious invasive infections but are at the same time multidrug-resistant. Such developments increase the importance of better diagnostics, monitoring, use of antibiotics, and Infection Control Research that could help prevent the hospital spread of such pathogens and save patients’ lives.

The present Special Issue aims to enhance our knowledge about resistance evolution, pathogen biology, novel therapies, and infection control methods through high-quality interdisciplinary research.
