Call for Papers: Alcohol and Cancer: Epidemiology, Mechanisms, Exposomics, and Policy Perspectives

Introduction

The worldwide public health system considers alcohol drinking to be a serious health issue because it creates connections with various cancer types and has multiple biological and social factors that affect its consumption. Modern biomedical and public health research needs to establish interdisciplinary research methods that study alcohol-related cancer development through its different biological, medical and community impact stages. The study of Alcohol consumption and cancer risk, together with its biological effects and social impact, requires dedicated research efforts to develop better cancer prevention methods and effective public health regulations.

CBI (Chemico-Biological Interactions) announces a special issue on “Alcohol and Cancer Research Submissions.” The issue presents a comprehensive study that links alcohol consumption to cancer by examining the topic through three scientific research methods: mechanistic studies, population studies, and translational research. Researchers, clinicians, toxicologists and public health scholars should submit their original research papers, which should be of high quality, to advance their interdisciplinary understanding of Alcohol-related cancer epidemiology and prevention methods.

The special issue will provide a research platform that connects toxicology and epidemiology, exposomics and policy research to support cancer prevention and accurate risk assessment.

Scope

The special issue invites original research articles, systematic reviews, methodological contributions, and interdisciplinary studies that analyse alcohol-related carcinogenesis through its biological and population-based effects. The research must demonstrate methodological rigour and theoretical relevance, enabling a better understanding of cancer risk and procedures for cancer prevention and intervention.

Research may address molecular and cellular Mechanisms of alcohol-induced carcinogenesis, study population-level epidemiology, conduct translational studies and examine alcohol exposure together with cancer risk through policy-focused investigations. The program particularly recommends interdisciplinary collaboration between toxicology and epidemiology, biomedical sciences, public health and data science.

Know More About This Issue

Researchers studying alcohol-related cancer need to use multiple research methods that connect biological science with environmental factors and health-related social determinants. The special issue invites researchers to study how alcohol consumption interacts with genetic factors, lifestyle habits and environmental conditions to influence cancer risk across different groups at various points in their life cycle.

The research field needs to adopt new methods for research which include artificial intelligence and multi-omics and advanced techniques for assessing environmental exposure, because these methods improve the process of establishing causal relationships and discovering new biomarkers. The special issue combines mechanistic knowledge with epidemiological research and policy analysis to create effective prevention methods and evidence-based Public health policy on alcohol and cancer solutions.

Alcohol and Cancer Research

Key Themes

Researchers are invited to submit manuscripts addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

  • The study examines how alcohol causes cancer through its effects on molecular processes and cellular functions that result in genotoxic damage, oxidative stress and changes in cellular metabolite production.
  • The research examines how alcohol-related cancers contribute to public health problems around the world through its study of cancer epidemiology.
  • The exposome research field investigates how cumulative exposure to different environmental factors and genetic factors combined to produce cancer risk.
  • The study investigates how inflammation, immune system changes, microbiome shifts and dietary factors interact with each other.
  • The study investigates how alcohol exposure affects human development through three stages of life and into future generations.
  • The study demonstrates how alcohol interacts with oncogenic viruses such as HIV to increase cancer risk.
  • The research investigates disease-related studies for liver cancer and colorectal cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer and aerodigestive cancer.
  • Researchers use artificial intelligence, data science and multi-omics to evaluate cancer risks and identify biological markers.
