Introduction

This article focuses on the nexus of sustainable fashion and older consumers and how the fashion industry may not only respond to environmental issues but also respond to the unique needs of an ageing population. This article explores various studies on consumers’ attitudes about sustainable fashion, greenwashing, and the possible role of emotional connection in eco-friendly consumption. It also discusses how fashion could do a better job of addressing older consumers’ needs, such as comfort, health, and inclusion, while also advancing older consumers’ self-identity and well-being through fashion. Finally, it is an attempt to reveal gaps in the fashion industry and to advocate for a sustainable and inclusive modality for the fashion industry.

Focus: This dissertation will study how gender and generational difference influence attitude toward sustainable fashion, emphasising the sustainability perception gap between the two demographic groups.

Focus: This study will explore how 21st-century authors, such as Kazuo Ishiguro and Deborah Levy, deal with the issues of collective memory and historical trauma through the connection between personal memory and collective narrative.

5. Post-Purchase Behaviour in Sustainable Fashion: Recycling, Repair, and Disposal Practices

Focus: This research will identify sometimes ignored post-purchase behaviours associated with sustainable fashion, such as recycling, repair, and disposal, and their impacts on overall sustainable fashion in the industry.

Focus: To explore how fashion can be designed to address older consumers comfort and physical needs, such as fashion identification and disability, and older adults who require adaptive clothing and easy-to-wear clothing.

10. Segmentation Strategies for Marketing Fashion to the Aging Population

Focus: Utilising the STP framework to identify a collection of market segments within the ageing population, developing marketing intentions focused on each market segment’s characteristics.
