Call for Papers: The Economics of Climate Transition in Asia-Pacific Countries

Introduction

Climate change has emerged as one of the largest economic and policy concerns for countries in the Asia-Pacific. As home to the world’s most rapidly growing economies, greatest emitters and the most climate-vulnerable nations, Asia-Pacific has been the centrepiece to achieving global sustainability goals and implementing the objectives of the Paris Agreement. In parallel to the increasing investment of government, financial and corporate sectors in climate mitigation and adaptation, the way toward achieving a net zero world carries enormous economic risks.

The increasing focus of Climate Transition Economics in Asia-Pacific, in turn, has promoted research on climate finance, carbon markets, green finance and green policy frameworks. As a result, opportunities and challenges have emerged from the evolving Asia-Pacific climate policy strategies and carbon markets and increasing pledges toward green economic transition.

Considering the growing need for policy solutions driven by evidence and robust economic analysis, this special issue aims to attract high-quality manuscripts that examine the economic consequences of the climate transition, climate finance, and sustainable policies in the Asian-Pacific economies. We encourage papers specifically concerned with the economics of climate change, transition finance, carbon pricing, and renewable energy economics sources.
