Call for Papers: Intelligent Sensing and Collaborative Governance of Water Systems

Introduction

The increasing human need for freshwater resources, together with climate change, urban development, and rising population numbers, requires the development of new integrated solutions. The research paper seeks to determine how state-of-the-art sensing systems can be used with cooperative governance methods to solve difficult water management problems.

Recent advancements in intelligent sensing in water have achieved better real-time data collection and system visibility through satellite observations, aerial monitoring and in-situ sensors and IoT-enabled platforms. The successful application of data requires governance systems that enable organisations to work together, make choices and implement their policies.

The call for paper on intelligent water systems invites researchers to contribute their studies on smart water management, which combines sensing technology with data analytics and governance methods to create adaptive, efficient and sustainable water systems that operate in different regions and sectors.

Scope

The special issue intends to support interdisciplinary research that connects technology and data and governance with contemporary water management systems. The following research fields should receive research submissions from potential authors:

  • Advanced water systems monitoring technologies for real-time sensing and predictive analytics
  • Applications of IoT in water resources for smart and automated operations
  • Digital twin models for simulation and optimisation of water infrastructure
  • Multi-source data fusion and integration techniques for improved decision-making
  • AI and machine learning applications in water quality, demand forecasting, and system optimisation
  • Flood resilience risk assessment with early warning systems
  • Policy frameworks and collaborative governance.
  • Cross-boundary and multi-stakeholder water resource planning
  • Sustainable and resilient water system design
  • Know More About This Issue

Intelligent sensing in water systems technologies have now reached a point where their combination with governance strategies creates a completely new method for monitoring and managing water systems. The special issue of intelligent water systems invites researchers to present their innovative work, which will help establish water management systems that use data for flexible and durable operations. The implementation of advanced sensing technologies together with existing governance systems will enhance the ability of water systems to respond to changing environmental conditions and community requirements.

The latest developments in intelligent water system sensors, which include satellite monitoring and IoT in water resource management and real-time data systems, now provide continuous system monitoring together with enhanced operational awareness. The complete advantages of these technologies become evident when they combine with governance frameworks that enable different organisations, geographical areas and community groups to work together. This intersection creates opportunities for more transparent, efficient, and evidence-based decision-making processes.

The smart water management research systems develop technologies which detect, analyse, forecast and react to changing environmental conditions. The systems enable active management systems, which decrease flood and water shortage risks while enhancing total operational performance.

This special issue provides a platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to present interdisciplinary solutions that combine technology, data analytics, and governance. The research encourages researchers to study three specific areas, which include collaborative water resource governance, multi-source data integration and new water system monitoring methods that use water systems technologies and Internet of Things devices for water resource management.
