Anxiety is a regulatory of human mechanism, becomes a disorder when it manifests without any danger or appears unreasonable in relation to a threat. Anxiety disorders encompasses phobic disorders, panic disorder, social phobia, and the specific phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, and mixed anxiety and depression, separation anxiety disorder and selective mutism, across all age groups.
Examination of anxiety involves subjective and objective analysis. A number of questionnaires are available for patient assessment – Patient Health Questionnaire, Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Anxiety Item, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale have been widely used for screening and assessing. Item response theory (IRT) is another tool with wide psychometric usage. Computerized Adaptive Tests provide reliable assessment. It selects and manages only the main informative items for each patient, based on their estimated 9 value from an IRT item bank. Daily reconstruction methods and ecological momentary assessments have been designed to manage the recall bias by use of several electronic data-capturing device like a smart phone to evaluate the patient’s health condition in relation to everyday life situations, at either preplanned or random times. Information gathered thereby is incorporated to arrive at all-inclusive health status report in a given time duration.
